Help Our School Win the Million Cans Contest

Contest Dates: October 1, 2026–April 30, 2027

Dear Parents and Families,

Riverdale Elementary is competing in the Million Cans Recycling Contest! This year, 72 schools across 19 states are competing to recycle the most aluminum cans, and we need your help!

Over the past three years, participating schools across the USA have recycled more than 6.5 million aluminum cans. This year, our goal is to recycle 4 million cans!

By saving aluminum cans, you can:

• Help our school win exciting prizes.

• Help us reach 56,000 cans and earn money toward a pizza party.

• Raise money for our school, we keep 100% of the money paid for the cans by our local metal recycling partner. We will be using this money to help purchase new recess equipment!

• Keep valuable aluminum out of the trash.

• Help our students become real-life recycling superheroes!

Please bring your empty aluminum cans to our school and help us fill our recycling bin as many times as possible. Cans may be crushed or uncrushed, but they must be empty aluminum beverage cans only.

You may also take cans directly to our local metal recycling/scrapyard partner. Be sure to tell them that you want the cans credited to our school.

Please ask your friends, family members, neighbors, and coworkers to save their cans for our school too. Every can counts!
