Basketball and Cheer Seasons Begin

As winter rolls around the corner, some winter sports are starting their seasons and looking forward to showing off their hard work. Last week, the girls cheer team had tryouts and then began practices. The cheer team will be cheering at all home games, including both boys and girls' basketball games. This is the first time Coach Pennock is coaching basketball cheer and the first time the cheerleaders are cheering at both boys' and girls' home games. The cheer seniors are Maggie Kelley, Claire DeCap, Ashlynne Schabilion, Alaina Heim, Evie Miller, and Isabel Lopez. Both boys and girls' basketball have started practices and are looking forward to the season ahead. The boys' first home game is Friday, December 1st at 7 PM, against Mercer County. The seniors on the boys' team include Dawson Peterson, Conner Geest, Jake Willems. The girls' first home game is Tuesday November 21st at 7 PM, against Bureau Valley. The seniors on the girls' team are Alexa Hugart, Carrieanne Hungate, Ry Grant, Alexis Duke, Tatem Broadway, Cassidy Mumma (manager), and Avery Burbridge (manager).Carrieanne Hungate is quoted saying, “Our team has been working super hard in practice and I think we all have a good feeling about this season. We’re all just looking forward to competing and playing together for one more year!” Support the basketball players and cheerleaders as they begin their seasons.
