First Wrestling Meet of the Year

The Riverdale boys wrestling team had their first meet of the year at Davenport North on November 29, 2023. They competed against Orion first, and then Davenport North after. The boys beat out Davenport, but lost to Orion.

The score of the Orion dual was 55-24 while the Davenport North score was 60-18. Blake Smith (Junior), Dean Wainwright (Sophomore), Tharren Jacobs (Senior), Zac Bradely (Senior), and Kolton Kruse (Junior), were all 2-0 individually. Jaden Leighty (Freshman) got his first high school win in a pin against Davenport North. Rio Rivas (Junior), also got a big win against Davenport North.

Kolton Kruse, Junior, quotes, “It wasn’t a perfect start but we learned a lot about ourselves and the team. I feel that will help us grow and be prepared for the end of the season which is what really matters!” The boys have another meet on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Lena-Winslow.
