Taking the Lead

By: Ali DePorter

The week of November 27th-December 1st, the Riverdale girls basketball team had two home games. On Monday, November 27th, they played Monmouth Roosevelt. Junior, Molly Skahill said, “This game was going to be a tough one, considering last year they lost to them.” They started the game out strong and they fought for everything they could. The varsity girls played really well as a team and put on a great game. The girls ended up winning with the score of 57-41. They also kept the lead the whole game and ended every quarter with a win.

To follow up this amazing win, the girls played Morrison on Thursday, November 30th. Coming off of the win on Monday they were confident, but they haven’t won against Morrison in 3 years. They knew that they had to play their best game if they wanted a good outcome. The girls ended up playing really well and did really well at not giving up when it was close. The girls played their best and ended up winning with the score of 49-36. They definitely deserved that win and played amazing as a team. It was a great week for the Riverdale Girls Basketball team.
