Robotic Rams Lego Fundraiser
Every year, the Robotic Rams run a LEGO Drive fundraiser to help the children at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital. This has grown into a nearly decade-long tradition that the Robotic Rams have started and continued on. This year, the LEGO Drive raised $1,300. This year they used 5th hour classes to raise money, the 5th hour class that raised the most money and won Raising Canes for lunch was Mrs. Henrickson’s! Every dollar that was raised went toward purchasing LEGO sets for children in the hospital. Over the years since 2017, the Robotic Rams have donated over $16,500 worth of LEGO sets. According to hospital staff, LEGOs are consistently the most requested item by patients. Many children, especially those undergoing cancer treatment or living with autoimmune diseases, are unable to leave their rooms and may not even be allowed visitors. LEGO sets give them something to pass the time, build and play during long and difficult hospital stays.
