Riverdale Volleyball Team Making History
The Riverdale Volleyball Rams took on the Orion Chargers on Tuesday October 21st. The freshman and sophomore team played at 5:00 pm winning both sets, followed by JV at 6:00, also winning both sets. Ram pride filled the stands in anticipation of the big game. The Varsity started out strong at 7:00 pm, obtaining a healthy lead for a majority of the game. They won the first set 25 to a mere 15. Orion battled a little harder in the second set, and put up 23 points but they didn’t stand a chance against the 25 points the rams put up. Cayleigh Hungate, pin hitter, led the team in kills, with eight, including a gnarly line shot and some sophisticatedly placed balls. Kamryn Kruger, libero, fought hard in the back row, leading the team in digs with ten. When asked if Katie Cox, senior middle blocker, was ever worried about the potential outcome of the game, she said “We came out strong and had a lengthy lead throughout the first set, but in the second set Orion settled in and we had to fight a little more.” The varsity Rams won in two sets, securing the title of Conference champions for the first time since 2017! It was a successful night for the Rams as they roll into the post season. Their next game is the highly anticipated senior night, taking place on October 23rd at home.
