Wrestling Rams are Unstoppable!
The Riverdale High School Wrestling team competed at home against Putnam County and Morrison on Wednesday, January 7th, bringing home another win. Being senior night, seniors Jake Schrdeya and Dean Wainwright were announced before the meet, accompanied by their parents. Both seniors had a successful night. Jake fought hard, having two pins and Dean won by forfeit against Putnam county and later won against his Morrison opponent due to a technical fall. The Rams won against Putnam County/Hall by a landslide, 81 to zero, with pins from Brady Rogers (10), Lucas Dunbar (10), Jake Schradeya (12), and Henry Schradeya (9). Both Riverdale and Morrison earned 41 points but Riverdale came out on top because they had the least amount of forfeits (Criteria 6). Eli Newton (11), Brady Rogers (10), Lucas Dunbar (10), and Jake Schredaya (12) all had pins during their Varsity matches. The Riverdale Wrestling Team is competing in “The P.I.T” 62nd Annual Lyle King Princeton Invitational tournament, one of the toughest 1A wrestling tournaments in the state, January 9th and 10th in Princeton, Illinois. Make sure to come out and support the wrestling team at home on January 31st for the Regional Meet!
